Signs of the "Times"

A quick look at the New York Times this morning is revealing. Above the page fold are five stories, three of which are tell-tale signs of our times. There is a picture of a dead Taliban leader in Afghanistan; a story about how the weak dollar is fueling US exports to the point that 50% of revenue from the S&P 500 will come from abroad this year; a story about how Chrysler is possibly being taken private by an investment firm Cerberus. Things are radically changing in our world. Thomas Friedman (The World is Flat) is right about our world becoming ever increasingly interconnected. What happens in Europe does impact us. What happens in Southeast Asia impacts us. It is no longer possible to put our collective heads in the sands. This makes for some exciting opportunities in mission work, evangelism, as well as discipleship.
